Reading Seminar: Rosalind Dixon, ‘Adjectival Constitutionalism’
August 28 @ 9:00 am – 10:30 am
CISRUL PhD candidate, Daisy Mugadza, will lead a reading seminar of Rosalind Dixon, ‘Adjectival Constitutionalism’ (2025) 73(2) American Journal of Comparative Law 215-235 https://academic.oup.com/ajcl/article/73/2/215/8246584.
The seminar will take place on Friday 28th August at 9.30 – 11 in Taylor A08 and on Teams.
It’s open to anyone from any discipline interested in the topic of constitutionalism – no prior knowledge required.
It’s the latest in the series “What is a Constitution? Reading Towards a Problem”. We’ve been discussing constitutionalism with a particular focus on economic and environmental constitutionalism. There’s no need to have attended previous seminars.
Some questions to guide reading and our discussion include:
- According to Dixon what is adjectival constitutionalism and what are its variants? Also, why are they important.
- Where do economic and environmental constitutionalism fit into this schema?
- According to Dixon, what is the relationship between adjectival and comparative constitutionalism?
- What do you think about this article’s broader utility for constitutional discourse?
Please share with anyone who might be interested.
