Daisy Mugadza began her PhD in February of 2025 at the University of Aberdeen’s School of Law but also with affiliations to CISRUL. She is a recipient of the CISRUL PhD merit scholarship award.
Her subject area is Constitutional Law, and, under the supervision of Dr Erin Ferguson (UoA School of Law and CISRUL) and Dr Robert Taylor (UoA School of Law), she is conducting research surrounding the separation of powers in English public law. More specifically, Daisy is focused on identifying to what extent, and how, the set-up of and relationship between the branches of government in the UK leads to a variety of linked issues contributing to economic challenges faced post-2008 financial crisis. Daisy’s project further envisages the use of a comparative lens which allows the UK’s constitutional set-up — with a focus on its executive-legislative fusion of powers and linking its economic constitution — to be contrasted to that of nations with a differing set-up.
Daisy has a Bachelor of Laws from Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and a Master of Laws with distinction from the University of Aberdeen (Scotland). Her research interests beyond the sphere of constitutionalism include, inter alia, international tax law — with a focus on contemporary issues of digitalisation and its impact on the developing world — human rights and civil rights.
