Jorg is a PhD candidate at the POLITICO programme on political concepts in the world, funded by a Marie Skłodowska-Curie scholarship.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in cultural analysis (ASCA) both from the University of Amsterdam, where he wrote a thesis on the politics of (meta)modernism from Kant to Fredric Jameson. He is a cofounder of the Dutch Pomonomo Podcast, which discusses topical themes in today’s politics.

His Phd project will investigate to what extent contemporary Spinozist and Nietzschean inspired conceptions of politics are at odds with Liberal-Kantian ones, and whether the former can be linked to a recent boom in speculative or ontological (i.e. anti-transcendental) philosophies. In this light, he will analyse current debates between LGBTQ+, Alt-Right and Liberal writer-activists on the values of universalism, identity politics and self-determination.

Jorg also co-hosts the podcast What Have These Concepts Ever Done for Us?

Supervisors: Dr. Beth Lord and Dr. Ritu Vij.
