CISRUL welcomes PhD projects on any political concepts, and in any of our disciplines: anthropology, sociology, politics, history, philosophy, theology, cultural studies, law and education.

We also welcome enquiries about how to fund a PhD at CISRUL. The following are some options:
Those considering studying an interdisciplinary PhD in Citizenship, Civil Society and Rule of Law, hosted by the School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture, are eligible for a New King’s Studentship (deadline for applying for Uni admission 13 May 2022).
CISRUL is advertising its own PhD studentships for study in our interdisciplinary PhD in Citizenship, Civil Society and Rule of Law, or in Law, History, Philosophy, Divinity or Education, or in one of the Modern Languages or English or Film Studies. The deadline is 15 May 2022.
The following are external funding programmes, although the deadlines have passed for 2022.
ESRC Scottish Graduate School Competition (for anyone in the social sciences)
AHRC Scottish Graduate School Competition (for anyone in the arts and humanities)
Carnegie Trust PhD Scholarship (for those with a 1st class undergraduate degree from a Scottish university)
