Marie Wuth is a PhD student in Philosophy funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD programme POLITICO and CISRUL (University of Aberdeen, UK) under the supervision of Dr Beth Lord and Dr Andrea Teti. She holds an MA in Philosophy (Freie Universität Berlin, Germany) and a BA in Cultural Science and Philosophy (Leuphana Universität Lüneburg, Germany).
Marie’s interests include but are not limited to political and social philosophy as well as affect theory and French theory. Her current research focus lies in early modern philosophy and feminist theory with a focus on feminist epistemology and political feminist theory. In her PhD project Marie takes a feminist-political stance on Spinoza’s relational ontology and epistemology in order to develop an affect theoretical account of political agency and political bodies building on and informed by Foucault, Deleuze, and Butler.
Her special interest in the intersection of philosophy and politics stems from her firm belief that theory must inevitably be informed by political structures and practices and that it is therefore necessary to reflect implicit and explicit political aspects within philosophical work. She is convinced that philosophical thinking regarding political concepts must to be informed by an interdisciplinary perspective. It is from this understanding that she has structured her PhD project to work at the crossroad of political, feminist, and affect theories, as well as critical race studies and theories of power, thereby reflecting on political events and processes in past and present. In order to do so Marie is planning to investigate the formation, structure, and dynamics of actual political groups, public debates, or social movements, e.g., the Civil Rights Movement and Arabic Spring.
