Sam McReavy Presents PhD Research on ‘Bold as Love’ by Gwyneth Jones

On Wednesday 14 January from 3.30pm – 5pm in Taylor AO8 and on Teams, CISRUL PhD candidate Sam McReavy will share his PhD research on the prize-winning novel Bold as Love by Gwyneth Jones. Bold as Love follows a ‘Triumvirate’ of indie rockstars who find themselves leading a revolutionary movement in a post-neoliberal, climate change-ravaged England, now separated from the former UK. The novel examines questions of political economy, gender identity, sexual relations, and the state of race and ethnicity in England, all through Jones’ unique critical eye, combining discussions of Marxism, feminism, post-colonial, and even post-humanist thought. This groundbreaking first instalment of Jones’ series examining Blair-era Britain turned her from a well-known literary critic, to one of the leading British Science Fiction authors of our day.
