SUMMARY:2024 Elections in India\, Mexico and South Africa
DESCRIPTION:Three of the world’s largest and most influential democracies went to the polls in May/June 2024. CISRUL is delighted to host a discussion of the campaigns and outcomes of those elections. \n\n\n\nParticipants will include: \n\n\n\n\nAjay Gudavarthy (JNU)\n\n\n\nCarin Runciman (Edinburgh)\n\n\n\nAmalendu Misra (Lancaster)\n\n\n\nRosario Aguilar (Newcastle)\n\n\n\nTrevor Stack (Aberdeen)\n\n\n\n\nThe discussion will range broadly. Topics will include: \n\n\n\n\npopulist discourse\n\n\n\nelectoral machinations\n\n\n\npolitical violence\n\n\n\ncivil society\n\n\n\nwelfare policies\n\n\n\neconomic aspects\n\n\n\ninternational relations\n\n\n\n\nThe event will be hybrid.
